Shanti Yoga focuses not only on the poses but on the breath, relaxation, meditation and yoga philosophy. Each class will vary depending on the community. Ultimately, we strive to help individuals achieve a yogic mind – one that is able to recognize its thought patterns and reform it to assist in a more peaceful life.
Yin: This floor based gentle practice consists of holding postures to allow for a deeper stretch to assist in releasing energy blockages and improving circulation. Embracing the stillness of the postures allows for a more meditative practice. This class is suitable for all levels.
Slow Flow: This class will take you through a variety of standing and floor based poses that will be held longer with breath and stillness being the focus. This class is suitable for all levels.
Taoist Flow: The nature of the Tao is to transform, move and be spontaneous. This class works with the opposing energies in the body to bring the body and mind into balance. Yang poses are used to build core strength, muscle tone, balance and stamina. Yin poses are used to promote stillness for clearing energy blockages and enhancing circulation. In Taoist Flow, movement and transitions between these poses are as important as the poses themselves. This promotes ease, fluidity and grace in the body. Suitable for all levels.
Agni Yoga: This is a class that focuses primarily on building core strength and breath work. This class is suitable for all levels.
Gentle Yoga: This class will assist you in relaxing into stillness, listening to the messages of your body & uniting body & mind through breath. Learn to feel lines of energy, flow with breath & build flexibility & strength at your own pace. Gentle yoga is a great
way to relax, restore & renew. This class is appropriate for all levels.
Blend: The class will include a combination of longer held poses and sequences of movement that can move with your breath. This is an intermediate level class.
