LAUGHTER YOGA with LAURA LERMAN

Join us to celebrate peace on World Laughter Day with Laughter Yoga leader, Laura Lerman, as she guides you through a yoga session unlike any other.

Laura will combine laughter with yogic breathing for an engaging yoga experience.

Laughter Yoga combines laughter with yogic breathing to lower stress levels and blood pressure, increase happiness, reduce pain, and strengthen the immune system; based on the fact that the body can’t differentiate between fake and real laughter- the benefits are the same!*

Laura Lerman is a RYT 200 and a member of Yoga Alliance and Yoga Association of Greater Detroit. She is also a massage therapist, reiki master teacher, and yoga2life coach.

DRUMMING MEDITATION with StrongHeart DrumMedicine by Ool Pardi

Join us for a fully immersive meditative experience in Native American drumming. _OolPardi

Ool Pardi of StrongHeart DrumMedicine will create an uplifting experience with the use of different drums and chimes as he guides us on a journey through the sacred rhythm of drumming.
There will be an opening and closing circle to share your experience if you choose to do so.

Feel free to bring anything that will help you get comfortable: yoga mat, blanket, pillow, etc. We will also have blankets and chairs in the studio if you need them.

YOGA AT THE WALL with NANCY McCAOCHAN

nancymc1Join us for a unique and fun yoga workshop with Nancy McCaochan, author of the book, Yoga at the Wall.

Utilizing the wall, Nancy will demonstrate the fundamentals of yoga postures while using resistance to strengthen and improve balance.

Nancy McCaochan is a workshop leader, retreat facilitator,  writer, editor, and yoga teacher. She has formal training in Philosophy, Women’s Studies, Writing Instruction, Meditation, Shamanic Journey Techniques, Hatha Yoga with an emphasis on therapeutics, and Kundalini Yoga. Nancy has been sharing what she loves and facilitating group experiences for 30 years.

THE ART OF YIN AND YANG YOGA with Paulie Zink

MORE ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

This workshop will be largely experiential with some short lectures. Students will engage in Yin Yoga postures of stillness for promoting growth, clearing energetic blockages, and enhancing circulation, Yang Yoga postures for developing core strength and muscle tone, balance, and stamina, and Taoist Flow Yoga. Taoist Flow includes both Yin and Yang yoga. It is more than just a sequence of postures. In Taoist Flow the process of transition from pose to pose is as much a part of the practice as the postures themselves. Taoist movement incorporates continuous, smooth and circular motion designed to develop fluidity and grace in the body and a relaxed confident demeanor.

Taoist yoga is an earth honoring tradition born out of the indigenous health practices and spiritual philosophies of ancient China. Taoist principles follow the way of simplicity and living in harmony with nature. In this all-levels workshop we learn to let go of concepts to free ourselves from the constraints of the thinking mind, grow the body supple, flow with movement, and be in harmony with our own Tao, or way of being.

We explore specific yoga postures that activate the vital properties of the five alchemical elements (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) and invoke the spiritual essence of various creatures, thus enlivening the body and consciousness with these distinct energetic qualities, such as lightness, fluidity, strength, springiness, and calm.

Through this process of renewal we balance emotions, restore bodily systems, clear energetic obstructions, increase vitality, and enhance self-awareness. By returning to our true state of being we awaken to our primal power and playful spirit.

Mostly asanas, energy awareness exercises.
